The "Wright" Free Agent

Apparently I hadn't really dug to deep when I posted my "waiver wire" blog because this kid is due to continue the trend of the past three weeks with Jamal Lewis getting the "boot"... No, he is not been taken from the starting line-up, he literally has a boot on his foot.

For the past three weeks it has now been apparent that Lewis is sporting an injured foot. Jason Wright, a 3rd year running back out of Northwestern has slowly increased his touches enough that he needs to be considered a third-tier running back.

Both last week and this week, he is averaging 18 carries for 59 YDs and 1 TD (3.9 YD avg.). The average yardage is nothing special, not even average at this point, but it runs consistently with Jamal's numbers through the first four games. This happens when you have a pass-happy offense due to poor offensive line and excelling youth at the WR and TE positions. Until Jamal gets back on the field and in 100% health, it is apparent that the kid gets the call.

FANTASY IMPACT: Cleveland is turning into a pass first, pass second, run third offense. Wright isn't going to win you fantasy games, but he will get you 6-8 points in yardage (1 pt. for every 10 yards) and the potential of a TD (6 pts), giving you a potential of 12 - 14 pts. a week. The Browns face the Rams this coming week and should give Wright the chance to put up even better numbers.
